I finally did it.......

I had a fun night last night.....I finally took some time and just played and this is the result of that play night.
I was cleaning out my bookcase the other day and came across this "Art Doll Quarterly" from Nov, Dec, Jan 2008/2009
Nice surprise to find under a pile of papers....lol! I sat down with a cup of tea and browsed through it again for inspiration.....then I came across this pattern from Li Hertzi called "Bush Baby" and decided to make one for myself!

I started at around 7:30 pm and finished at 10:30 pm....not bad, three hours from start to finish!

Well, here she is all done and ready to hang.....

This is how she was created. I used scraps of heavy "home decor" fabric that my dil gave me from when she made her purses. I cut the pattern first out of heavy pellon 70 and then fused it to the fabric, one side at a time. Then, I just zig zaged around the outside of each piece. The first piece I tackled was the face....the best part...full of character!! Her eyes are circles cut from another piece of fabric fused to a light interfacing, then cut out and I attached it by doing a buttonhole stitch around the outer edge with black embroidery floss. Next, I just sketched on her mouth and used red embroidery floss to sew on the outline. The hair is just a small piece of funky trim.....perfect for her! Her eyes are flat googlie eyes...as you can see from the picture they open and close when you move her......lol! Next came the nose, all it is, is a plastic bead.
Next, I just wire wrapped beads of different sizes around her legs and then her arms....do you see her diamond on her finger???? After all the embellishing was done, I attached the arms and legs with brads, glued the head to the body and sewed on her earrings!!

Now meet "Nagapie"....another name for "Bush Baby"!!

WHOA, I love her, what fun she is. You made her pretty quick, I shall have to see if I can make one of those from your instructions.
Isn't it lovely to find an old mag and then find a useful thing inside. You cant beat the old ones. Like me of course!!!! hahahahahahaha lol xxxx
